Kobudo and Kobujutsu

Kobujutsu is the study of martial arts weapons. Specifically those weapons which originate from the island chain south of Japan. The largest of these islands is Okinawa and is the home of kobujutsu. During the practice of Kobujutsu, weapons such as the bo staff, nunchaku, kama (sickle), sai, and tonfa are used. Through the practice of kobujutsu the student learns a piece of fading history in the martial arts. Additionally it improves coordination, balance, posture and concentration.
